Short CV

Elmar Eisemann is a Professor (chair Computer Graphics and Visualization) at the TU Delft and board member of the Delft Data Science initiative. Before, he was an Associate Professor at Telecom ParisTech (ENST) / CNRS-LTCI until 2012 and a senior researcher and group leader in the Cluster of Excellence (MMCI) at Max-Planck-Institute and Saarland University.

He studied at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris and became a Normalien, he received his PhD from Grenoble Universities at INRIA Rhone-Alpes. He spent several research visits abroad; at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Adobe Systems Inc. He was part of various committees, including SIGGRAPH, Eurographics, EGSR, i3D. He was member of the editorial board of the journals jgt and journal of computer graphics techniques and associate editor of the journal Computer Graphics Forum (CGF). He is associate editor of Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, as well as Computers & Graphics. He was local organizer of the Eurographics Symposium on Rendering (EGSR) 2010, 2012, and High Performance Graphics 2012, paper chair for HPG 2015, EGSR 2016, Graphics Interface 2017 and general chair for Eurographics 2018 (in Delft).

He (co-)authored various articles in renowned venues (including SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics, and CVPR), holds several international patents, gave courses at SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia and Eurographics, state-of-the-art reports. He also first-authored the book Real-Time Shadows published by AK Peters.

His work received several distinction awards --- including several best paper, best poster, best presentation awards --- and he was honored with the Eurographics Young Researcher Award 2011 and the Netherlands Prize for ICT Research 2019.
