Job description
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) seeks a Full Professor (0.8-1.0 FTE) for the chair Computer Graphics and Visualization. This chair is in the Computer Science/Mediamatics Department, which focuses on research in multimedia, video processing, knowledge and data analysis, computer graphics, visualization and multimodal interaction.
The chair has a 30-year, strong track research record in computer graphics, geometric modelling, and data visualization. In the past decade, research has been rapidly expanding to areas such as medical visualization, virtual reality and 3D interaction, geo-visualization and game technology. Important parts of the group’s research link to the Delft Research Initiatives “Environment” and “Health”, thus aiming to find solutions for tomorrow’s problems. Currently, the chair consists of one associate professor, one assistant professor, and several post-docs and PhD students. In addition, it has one tenure track (assistant/associate) professor position open.
The candidate we seek will strengthen and extend the current research programme and lecture in the Bachelor and Master Computer Science programmes. His/her research should deal with some topic(s) in the fields of computer graphics and interactive visualization such as: data visualization, modelling, rendering, interaction in virtual/augmented reality, game technology, and visual data analysis. In addition to research and teaching, an important responsibility of the successful candidate will be to lead and to grow the existing research group, and to represent it within and outside of the university. S/he will have to be a first-class researcher and teacher, as well as a competent leader and coach of the members of the group.
Requirements
The candidate we seek is an internationally well-positioned, excellent researcher in the field of Computer Graphics and Visualization. S/he has published pioneering contributions in major research journals and top-level conferences. The candidate holds a PhD degree in a relevant discipline (computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering), and should also fulfil the following requirements:
- The candidate is an enthusiastic team player. Experience in initiating and participating in (international) research programmes and in collaborative projects with scientific and industrial partners is a strong advantage.
- The candidate has a proven record of attracting substantial research funding.
- The candidate will, preferably, have experience with different application domains and a keen eye for technical and scientific solutions.
- The candidate is an outstanding teacher.
- The candidate has competent leadership, managerial, communicative and administrative skills.
- The candidate has an excellent command of the English language. If the candidate is not Dutch-speaking, s/he is expected to have acquired a good command of Dutch within two years from the start of employment.

Conditions of employment
The maximum gross salary per month for this position ranges from € 7.142 (based on scale H2) up to € 8.622 (based on scale H1). TU Delft offers an attractive benefits package, including a flexible work week, free high-speed Internet access from home, and the option of assembling a customised compensation and benefits package (the 'IKA'). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
Facilities for continuation of the candidate's on-going research projects can be negotiated.
