Description
Fratoria BV is a Dutch company focused on providing data visualization and communication software for radiation oncology. Fratoria partners with the world's leading providers of solutions for cancer treatment , and delivers its software to oncology centers across Europe.
One of the products - Fratoria DICOM RT Viewer - is designed to visualize output of treatment planning systems. It is a Windows-based application used by doctors and clinical physicists as a generic tool to access complex radiotherapy plans and diagnostic images provided by different systems. The application has components for interactive 2D and 3D visualization of DICOM-3 and DICOM RT data.
The 3D rendering component uses a raycasting algorithm as part of VTK library to visualize merged volumes, as it is the case with, for example, PET-CT data (see figure below).
The focus of this project is to improve performance of volume rendering by integrating ImageVis3D technology and combining it with VTK library used in Fratoria DICOM RT Viewer. We are looking for a group of 2 to 4 students that have some C++ experience, or are up to gaining the experience through this project. For this project remuneration is available.
