Material: M.P. Groover, "Automation, Production Systems, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing", second edition, Prentice-Hall.
Goal: This course is intended to provide a technical survey of important topics in production automation and related systems. The emphasis is on information aspects of industrial automation.
Contents: The topics include automation, production systems, numerical control, industrial robotics, automated material handling and storage, group technology, flexible manufacturing systems and production data management.
Practical work: Exercise with the Pro/ENGINEER modelling system for NC-programming. Exercise with GRASP for offline robot-programming.
Examination: Written examination.
